at / on / inの基本イメージ

前置詞は日本語訳に頼らず、「イメージ」で捉えると使い分けがスムーズになります。

• at ＝ 「点」のイメージ（地図上のスポット・待ち合わせ場所・位置）
• on ＝ 「面」のイメージ（壁や床、テーブルなどの表面に接している）
• in ＝ 「空間」のイメージ（四方が囲まれた立体的な空間・建物の中・国や都市）

場面別フレーズ集

1. at（点・地点）

• Where should we meet? どこで待ち合わせましょうか？
  • Let’s meet at the station. 駅で会いましょう。
• Where are you right now? 今どこにいますか？
  • I’m at the airport. 今、空港にいます。
  • I’m at the entrance. 入口にいます。
• Where’s the bus stop? バス停はどこですか？
  • It’s right over there, at the corner. すぐそこの角にありますよ。
• You can ask at the front desk. フロントで聞いてみるといいですよ。
• There’s a convenience store at the corner. 角にコンビニがあります。

2. in（空間・エリアの中）

• Is there free Wi-Fi in the lobby? ロビーに無料Wi-Fiはありますか？
• Where should I wait? どこで待っていればいいですか？
  • Please wait in the lobby. ロビーでお待ちください。
• Where are you right now? 今どこにいますか？
  • I’m in the elevator. エレベーターにいます。
• She’s in Tokyo right now. 彼女は今東京にいます。
• I left my bag in the car. 車の中にバッグを忘れてしまいました。
• There are a lot of people in the park. 公園にたくさんの人がいます。

3. on（表面への接触・面）

• Where can I find the Wi-Fi password? Wi-Fiのパスワードはどこにありますか？
  • The Wi-Fi password is on the table. Wi-Fiのパスワードはテーブルの上にあります。
• Where’s the restroom? {トイレはどこにありますか？}
  • The restroom is on the second floor. トイレは2階にあります。
• Where are you right now?{今どこにいますか？}
  • I’m on a cruise ship right now. 今、クルーズ船に乗っています。
